About AI Sauce
Welcome to AI Sauce - a blog about the intersection of artificial intelligence, agentic software architecture, and the evolving craft of software development.

I'm Scott Frees - computer science professor, software developer, and consultant. I teach students how to become the kind of engineers who still bring a huge value-add in the age of AI - by learning to leverage AI tools and agentic principles, not just write code. I apply the same approach in my work with organizations, helping them build systems that solve real-world problems. This blog is where those two roles intersect—where I think out loud about how AI is transforming not just what we build, but how we build it, who builds it, and what skills will matter tomorrow.

AI Sauce is focused on the practical side of agentic software: how to design systems that collaborate, reason, and act with autonomy. I write about real-world architectures, integration patterns, and the growing toolkit of AI-enhanced development. Sometimes I dive into AI-assisted coding or reflect on how large models are changing the shape of the developer experience. Other times, I talk about what it means for my students to enter a job market where AI agents are part of the team—and maybe part of the competition.
If you're a developer, educator, or just trying to stay ahead of the curve, this blog is for you. No hype, no fluff - just real talk about where we're headed and how to build for it.
